SAVE – Sustainability Action for Venues & Events

on Apr 27, 2012 in News

Last week, at Summer Eventia, EcoEvents and drpgroup launched the SAVE poster, the environmental and sustainability version of the HSE poster.

This year’s Summer Eventia had a strong focus on the economy and how recent activity in the UK and in Europe could affect the events industry. As an industry we need to find a new way to do business. We need to find a way of using what is within our control to engage new markets, to seize new opportunities, to improve efficiency & reduce costs and to meet the ever increasing requirements for evidenced support of our clients’ policies.

And we need to do this through being able to deliver clear measurable benefits to the bottom line…but how do companies who do not have the budget for 1-1 consultancy do this?

This is the problem that has kept our MD up at night and motivated her to approach Dale Parmenter, MD of drpgroup, to find a creative, affordable, do-able solution…aptly named SAVE.

Before you ask, it is not another badge and it is not in conflict with certification. SAVE is an interactive route map (snazzily based on the London underground) that takes you on the journey, step by step, It will be supported by tried and tested engagement tools and interactive guidance through a website that is currently being developed using recent feedback from Eventia members.

Essentially, SAVE means that any business of any size can position themselves, not just to survive but to thrive in an environmentally, socially and economically sensitive business world.

And should a company want to achieve accredited certification they can do so by following the route set out by SAVE.

We are on a mission to support the sustainability of the events industry and we believe that SAVE will do just that.

See here for a recent press article by Stand Out and let us know what you think and what you would like to see from the website applications that will bring the poster to life.
